“This new collaboration deepens 505 Games presence within the Polish videogame market, a reality now among the firsts in Europe for the development of video games, new projects, and talents. Together with One More Level, we have created a thrilling and engaging video game,” says Raffaele Galante, co-CEO of Digital Bros. “We are particularly excited about the future release of Ghostrunner 2. You can read more details about this massive announcement below. We are thrilled to inform the Ghostrunner community that Ghostrunner 2 has been announced! The frame rates will be a cherry on top.ĥ05 Games announced that they have big plans for the sequel and will have a budget of €5 million as an “initial budget” which is almost double that of the first game. New changes we can expect in the next-gen version of the game still haven’t been revealed but it’s wise to imagine it’ll include better graphics, more details, faster loading times, and more frame rates. The next-gen version of Ghostrunner will be available by the end of 2021 and the upgrade will be free to those who have already purchased the game on PS4 or Xbox One. In addition to the new game, a next-gen version of the first Ghostrunner is also in the works. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It was such a huge hit that publisher 505 Games, a subsidiary of Digital Bros, has agreed to make a sequel with the developer, One More Level.ĥ05 Games was so impressed by the number of sales for the game that they acquired the IP last March. “I’ve heard the designers cite Titanfall 2 as an inspiration and this is a similar six or so hours where every level adds a mechanical twist for ten minutes before parkouring to the next.” Hopefully, the sequel can keep up that brisk pace while smoothing out some of the original’s rough edges. The original game came out six months ago and sold over 600,000 copies. Matthew Castle (RPS in peace) wrote that the first game “rarely repeats itself” in his Ghostrunner review. Ghostrunner 2 will come out later this year on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, though there’s no concrete release date yet. But we might need to wait until the full release before we witness that. As a cyberpunk game featuring cool bikes, Ghostrunner 2 is legally obligated to have at least one moment where your bike slides and/or drifts with a side-on camera view in respect to the famous bit from Akira. Ghostrunner 2 is also expanding on almost every aspect of the first game with new weapons, abilities, enemies, and traversal options.Īlong with the original’s stylish acrobatic action, the sequel’s big new feature is the vehicular combat on one sleek silver motorbike, just in case you wanted a side of extra speed. Set one year later, the sequel sees Jack finally leaving the nest to explore the wider cyberpunk world, which consists of both neon-engulfed motorways and very drab urban wastelands. The first game had our cyber-ninja Jack climbing up the deathtrap of Dharma Tower, all while chopping up enemies on the way. It has all the slicing, dodging, and parkour that you would expect from a sequel about a cyberpunk ninja, but this time some speedy vehicles join the party too. Ghostrunner 2 was first teased two years ago, but tonight’s PlayStation Showcase gave us our first proper look at the follow-up. Ghostrunner’s mix of wall-running and ninja-slashing made enough of a splash to warrant a sequel.
